The Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) has specific guidelines for the installation of piezometers in industrial areas. Here are the relevant details:
Purpose of Piezometers:
Piezometers are essential for monitoring groundwater levels and quality.
They help assess the impact of groundwater extraction and ensure sustainable water management.
CGWB Guidelines:
As per the CGWB guidelines, in industrial areas (as designated or notified by Central/State Governments), the CGWB shall construct need-based piezometers based on local hydrogeological conditions.
The piezometers are strategically placed to monitor water levels effectively.
Penalty for Non-Installation:
Failure to install piezometers can result in penalties.
The Ministry of Jal Shakti’s guidelines specify a penalty of Rs. 200,000 for non-installation of piezometers1.
Recent Amendment:
Future renewal cases: No penalty shall be imposed if CGWB is constructing piezometers under the PIB1.
Remember, piezometers play a crucial role in sustainable groundwater management, and their proper installation ensures accurate monitoring.
